yesterday I called a student by the wrong name
which happens on the reg, because I teach a lot of them and it’s hard to keep track sometimes and I’m not getting a lot of sleep lately, so cut me some fucking slack students.
anyway June was absent, but as I was asking Tim a question I accidentally called him “June”. Tim and Kent immediately pounced.
“Ooooh! Teacher! You like June? You think June? Teacher likes June! June and Teacher oooooh!”
obviously this was ridiculous (and inappropriate considering June is like, eleven) and I should have told them to quiet down and show “Teacher” some respect.
instead, because I’m totally smooth in uncomfortable situations and not awkward at all, I started blushing. Then, with nervous laughter, I denied it and tried to move the conversation back towards the lesson. surprise surprise, my reaction only made the teasing worse.
so that was another day of solid professionalism in the classroom.
